Countdown to the next opportunity to lead this Local
10/01/07 I want to extend a huge thanks to those of you that supported me and voted, and ask those of you that supported me and didn't vote not to miss out the next time. It's my first day back in a normal life, and it feels strange. No cell phone calls on the Union number, no rushing from task to task. I actually began picking up on my neglected personal tasks, and it feels good to get some long overdue things done. I had a few calls over the weekend, and in returning a call today, I received a compliment that compelled me to update my page: "In 38 years of being a NABET and an IA member, I never had anyone represent me the way you did." Considering that goes back to when I was ten years old and not having a care beyond running out of daylight, that was a moving statement that encapsulated most of my life. I spent three solid years giving to our members, and if I get the chance, I will do so again, if the opportunity presents itself. Time will tell just how this re-alignment works out. Already, in the week since the vote results are in, I cannot get questions answered, had my e-mail cancelled even though I still serve as RVP-5, and have received no respect from my successor. I offered transitional help, and to date it hasn't even been turned down. My offer was ignored. Strap on your seat belts folks. Final thought - one of the most mind boggling things I have heard from people regarding things that were held against me is the fact that we spent our personal money to provide nice color literature. That was a negative move! I sure wish I would have known that - I could have saved nearly a 1000 dollars of my share of the costs. So could have John, Leslie, and Larry! It was very odd to defend a member on my last day, and have management describe how interesting it is to watch NABET members toss out the leadership every three years. It was even more interesting to hear them acknowledge how much of a run we gave the companies. See you in a month or so with an update. LJ
